Cadac Contact Details

Cadac is now part of Dometic and trades as Dometic Mobile Cooking. Its official site describes itself as CADAC by Dometic, and the old cadac.co.za address redirects to the Dometic South Africa store. The brand and the products are unchanged; the company answering the phone is not.

The contact form is the better route for a warranty or a spares query, because it captures the model and the serial number that the call will ask for anyway.

These are separate legal entities, and a warranty claim is handled by the region you bought in rather than by whichever office answers first.

Where Dometic support stops

This is the part worth knowing before you phone. Dometic states on its South African support pages that it can only provide support for products purchased directly from it online. If you bought your Cadac from a retailer, Dometic directs you to that retailer. So keep the till slip: for a shop-bought unit, the shop is your first port of call and the manufacturer is the second.

The site also carries a Find Dealers page. Use it before buying, because a dealer purchase gives you both a retailer to return to and the manufacturer warranty behind it.

Gas safety, which matters more than the warranty

Cadac appliances run on LP gas, and the safety points are the same for every brand. Check the hose and regulator for perishing before each season and replace them rather than patching. Never use a gas barbecue indoors, in a tent, or in an enclosed patio, because carbon monoxide from a burning appliance kills without warning in a confined space. Turn the cylinder off at the valve, not only at the appliance.

The Turbo FFD cookers carry a flame failure device, which shuts the gas off automatically if the flame goes out. If yours does not have one, that safety layer is not there, and an unattended burner blown out by wind will keep releasing gas.

Buying gas cylinders and refills

Buy cylinders and refills from a licensed dealer, and check that the cylinder is within its test date. A cylinder filled at an unlicensed operation, or decanted from one cylinder to another, is a real hazard and is illegal. If a price is well under the going rate, that is usually why.
