IUA asks you to include your name, ID number, policy number and contact details in every email. The self-service portal lets you view your contract or policy, download documents, register and track a claim, upload documents and check on a query. IUA’s contact form is meant for businesses wanting to partner with IUA, not for policyholders.
What this organisation provides
IUA is a business process outsourcing company. Insurers, banks, financial services companies and retailers appoint it to administer their customers’ contracts and policies, so you may deal with IUA even though you bought cover from another brand. Its services cover policy administration, customer communications, contract changes, data administration, premium collections, claims administration and complaints management, third-party management information and financial accounting. IUA says it has worked since 1981 and served more than 11 million customers.
IUA’s customer service FAQs answer the questions it gets most often:
- Your welcome letter and policy documents should arrive within 30 days of signing up. If they have not, call 031 570 7600 or email admin@iua.co.za for a copy.
- Monthly premiums are not refunded, because cover runs month to month for each premium received.
- A shortfall policy pays the balance owed to your finance house after your comprehensive insurer has settled, but excludes extras and accessories such as sunroofs and mag wheels.
- Warranty, service and maintenance plan claims are paid only after the repair is complete and IUA has the tax invoice and a signed clearance certificate. Same-day payment is possible if the correct documents arrive before 11:00.
- Bodyguard policyholders are encouraged to submit claims within 30 days of the incident.

- If you are unhappy with IUA’s written outcome, escalate the complaint to the insurer whose policy IUA administers.
- If the insurer does not resolve it, IUA’s process names the ombud: the National Financial Ombud Scheme (0860 800 900, info@nfosa.co.za) for policy service and claims, or the FAIS Ombud (012 762 5000, info@faisombud.co.za) for how the policy was sold.
- A complaint about misuse of your personal information goes to the Information Regulator on 010 023 5200 or POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za.
