NetPractice is South African medical billing and practice management software. It publishes no telephone number at all — WhatsApp is the phone channel, and everything else runs through email or a booked call.
NetPractice contact details
- WhatsApp: +27 66 030 2973
- Email: [email protected]
- Address: Dock Road Junction, Cnr Stanley and Dock Road, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, 8001
- A chat widget on the site offers Book a 15-min call and Book training as options
Booking the fifteen-minute call is the fastest route to a person. It is the route the company itself pushes, and it beats emailing and waiting, particularly for a setup question.
What it actually does
- Real-time medical scheme claim submission at the end of a consultation.
- Invoicing, monthly statements and payment tracking.
- Patient and visit management, with the claim generated from the captured visit.
- Scripts, sick notes and referral letters.
- Reporting on aged debtors, daily collections, visit mix and turnover.
- BankSwitch, and a partner programme for people managing several practices under one account.
It advertises free sign-up with no plans or contracts and setup within 24 hours. If you are comparing, note that in this market the software is often free while claim submission itself carries a per-claim cost, so ask what the switching fee is before you commit — the company’s own blog says as much.
What you need in place before the software helps
Billing software does not create the right to bill. A South African practice needs registration with its professional council, a practice number issued by the Board of Healthcare Funders through the Practice Code Numbering System, and its own arrangements with the schemes. Claims will reject without a valid practice number, and a rejection at the switch is not a software fault. If you are starting out, get the practice number first.
This is a data processor, and that matters
A practice management system holds patient health records, which are special personal information under POPIA. The company publishes an Operator Agreement alongside its terms, which is the document that governs it processing patient data on your behalf. Read it and keep a signed copy: as the practice you remain the responsible party, and an operator agreement is not optional paperwork, it is the thing that makes the arrangement lawful.
Before you migrate
- Ask how you get your data out again, and in what format, before you put it in.
- Check which schemes the claim switch reaches, and whether your highest-volume ones are among them.
- Ask what happens to submitted-but-unpaid claims if you leave mid-cycle.
- A dispute about a scheme rejecting a claim is a matter for the scheme, and ultimately the Council for Medical Schemes, not the software vendor.
