Two websites, one brand

Neither site is a fake. Both are live, both carry the brand, and they publish different numbers and different addresses, which is the usual reason people think they have found an impostor.

theperfumecoafrica.com is the company site, with the online shop and the Midrand office. perfumeco.africa is the distributor side, aimed at people selling the fragrances rather than buying a bottle, and it runs from the Rosebank hub.

Match the route to the question. An order, a return or a product query belongs with the company numbers. Anything about joining, member accounts, price lists or distributor stock belongs with the perfumeco.africa side. Sending one to the other is the common reason these enquiries go unanswered.

Where each number appears

The two company numbers are printed together, separated by a slash, with no labels saying which does what. Try one, then the other.

They are also easy to miss. They appear only on the company site’s Contact page, not on its home page, so a visitor who lands on the shop and scrolls will find the email address and the Midrand address but no telephone number at all.

Worth knowing before you dial: 012 is a Pretoria code and 017 is a Mpumalanga code, while the published office is in Midrand. That is not a sign of anything wrong, but it does mean neither line is a local Johannesburg number.

The 072 number on the distributor side is a mobile offered for both calls and WhatsApp, so a message is often the faster route there.

A second WhatsApp number you cannot see

The distributor site links a second WhatsApp number, 064 682 8454, from icon buttons in its header and footer. It opens a chat with the message “Good day, kindly please assist” already filled in.

That number is never written out anywhere on the site. It exists only inside the link behind an icon, so you would only ever find it by tapping the icon or by inspecting the page. If 072 354 1618 does not answer, it is a second live route worth trying.

Hours and where they deliver

The distributor site publishes working hours of Monday to Friday 07:00 to 18:00 and Saturday 08:00 to 16:00, and shows Sunday as closed. The company site publishes no hours, so treat its numbers as weekday business hours.

The enquiry form on the distributor site offers South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique and Namibia as countries, which is a fair guide to where the brand takes enquiries from.

What the company sells

The company describes itself as making fragrances inspired by designer brands, locally manufactured, affordably priced and black owned, and says it offers distribution opportunities and a franchise model in shopping centres. It says it was founded in August 2021 and that a year later it had more than 5 000 distributors across South Africa’s nine provinces and in Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique and Botswana.

Inspired by designer brands is a specific claim and worth reading carefully. It means a fragrance built to evoke a well known scent, not the branded original. Check exactly what you are buying before you order, and especially before you buy stock to resell.

If you are joining as a distributor, ask for the starter cost, the price list and the terms in writing before you pay anything, and keep the reply. That is ordinary care with any stock-based selling model, not a comment on this one.

Have your order number ready for a purchase query, or the name of the distributor you dealt with if you bought through one. The two sides keep separate records.

Say in your first message which of the two you are contacting and why, because the brand name alone does not tell them whether you are a customer or a distributor.
