Pylontech has no South African office. Its own Regional Contacts list covers Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Poland and Latin America. There is no South Africa entry and no Africa region at all.

The only routes Pylontech publishes for South Africa

Those are the global Chinese head office addresses. There is no local number, no local hours and no local language support, so expect a time difference and an email-only exchange.

Your warranty is with the installer, not with Pylontech

This is the part that matters, and it catches a lot of South African households. Pylontech batteries reach this country through distributors, who sell to installers, who sell to you. Your contract is with the installer. A battery that under-performs or fails is their obligation in the first instance, and they claim up the chain. Emailing a factory in China will not get a battery replaced in Boksburg.

Before you buy, ask who carries the warranty

Ask the installer, in writing, three things: who honours the warranty if the battery fails in year four, what the process is, and whether the unit is grey-import stock. A battery bought outside the official distribution chain may carry no supported warranty in South Africa at all, no matter what the manufacturer’s global terms say, because nobody local is obliged to act on it.

An installation is regulated work

A grid-tied or hybrid solar installation in South Africa must be signed off with a Certificate of Compliance by a registered electrician, and registered with your municipality where the rules require it. An installation without a CoC can affect your household insurance claim after a fire. That is a bigger risk than the battery brand.
