Teljoy rents household appliances, electronics and furniture to South Africans on a month-to-month basis, with the option to own the item after 24 or 36 months. It sells online only — there are no Teljoy stores to walk into — so the contact routes below are the whole of it.

Official contact details

  • Telephone: 0860 22 44 66
  • Live chat: the chat widget on teljoy.co.za
  • Enquiry form: teljoy.co.za/contact

Teljoy does not publish a general email address. The contact form is the written route, and it asks you to pick a query type first: application feedback or follow-up, account enquiries, general enquiries, delivery enquiries, EasyFix enquiries, or logging a faulty unit. Picking the right one routes the message to the right desk, so it is worth a moment.

Which query goes where

  • Application still pending: choose Application feedback and quote the ID number the application was made under.
  • Item broken or not working: choose Log a Faulty Unit. Repairs and maintenance are covered under the rental, so this is not a paid call-out.
  • Delivery not arrived: choose Delivery enquiries and quote the order number, not the product name.

EasyFix is Teljoy’s separate repair offering and has its own query type on the form; do not use it for a rented unit that has failed, which falls under the ordinary faulty-unit route.

What the rental actually covers

Teljoy has been trading for more than 55 years — it started by bringing television sets into South African homes — and its current model is rent-to-own rather than credit. The rental includes repairs and maintenance, risk cover, and a TV licence on every television. There are no upfront costs, delivery and setup are free, and you can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any point during the term without a penalty, returning the product and ending the monthly payments. If you keep it to the end of the agreed 24 or 36 months, ownership passes to you. Because it is a rental and not a credit agreement, the cancellation terms differ from what you would expect on a hire-purchase contract, which is the single most common reason people phone.

If the call centre cannot resolve it

  • Ask for a reference number on the call — the form and the phone line feed the same case system.
  • A rental agreement is still a consumer contract: the National Consumer Commission is the external escalation point if Teljoy does not resolve a dispute.
  • Never pay a deposit or a “release fee” into an account given to you over the phone or by message. Teljoy states that there are no upfront costs; confirm anything of the sort by phoning 0860 22 44 66 yourself.
