Vobi is not a company. It is a calling app from Vox Telecom, so there is no Vobi switchboard and no Vobi mailbox – support comes through Vox. vobi.co.za, the address most people try, is not a website at all: it answers with a bare Apache directory listing containing one cgi-bin folder. The real product page is vox.co.za/voice/vobi. Read on 6 September 2026.
Vox contact details for Vobi
- Telephone: 087 805 0500, Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:00

All of those are Vox addresses, and that is correct – quoting Vobi at the start of the call is what gets you to the right team, because Vox also sells fibre, LTE, satellite, hosting, email and PBX off the same number.
What Vobi actually is
A SIP softphone: an app on your phone that makes calls over Wi-Fi or mobile data rather than over the cellular voice network. Vox sells it as Vobi Unlimited from R149 a month, and you can port an existing landline number onto it or take a new number. Because it runs over the internet, it keeps working when a cell tower is down, which is the reason most of the reviews on Vox’s own page mention load shedding.
Billing questions are not support questions
Vox publishes per-minute and per-second rate plans as separate documents, and which one your account is on changes the bill materially – a short-call user pays less per second, a long-call user less per minute. That is an accounts question, not a technical one. The self-service portal at the Customer Zone shows the account and the configuration, and checking there first is faster than holding on the line.
Three things worth knowing before you sign up
- A ported landline number stops working on the old line the moment the port completes. Do not port a number a business depends on without agreeing the date.
- Call quality depends on your internet connection, so a complaint about audio may turn out to be a fibre or LTE fault – Vox will check both, but say which connection you are on.
- Vox also lists network outages publicly. Check that page before logging a fault; a regional outage is not an account problem.
