The Central University of Technology publishes one contact for its finance function rather than separate desks for fees, debtors and bursaries. Everything from an account balance to a financial exclusion query starts at the same place.

CUT finance contacts

Put your student number in the subject line of any email. Finance mailboxes at a university handle thousands of queries in registration season and an untagged message is slower to route than a tagged one.

Never take CUT banking details from anywhere else

CUT publishes its banking details on one page of its own site, at cut.ac.za/banking-details. Do not use an account number sent to you by email, WhatsApp or a third-party study-advice site, and do not use one printed in a message that claims your registration is at risk. Payment redirection against university fees is common in South Africa and the amounts are large enough to be worth a fraudster changing one digit. Check the account against the university own page before every payment, not just the first one, and if anything differs, phone 051 507 3334 before paying.

Fee blocks and results

A withheld result, a blocked registration or a refused graduation is usually a fee matter rather than an academic one, and only finance can lift it. If you are appealing a financial exclusion, do it in writing to financeinfo@cut.ac.za with your student number, and ask for written confirmation of the outcome and the date it takes effect. Verbal assurances at a counter are not something you can rely on later.

Emergency and safety numbers

Not finance, but worth having if you are on campus. CUT publishes toll-free protection services lines that run outside office hours.

If a finance query is not resolved

  • Escalate in writing through financeinfo@cut.ac.za, quoting the original date and reference
  • For an NSFAS allowance or funding decision, NSFAS runs its own appeals process and the university cannot decide it
  • For an unresolved complaint against a public university, the Department of Higher Education and Training and the Council on Higher Education are the external routes
