The Vaal University of Technology does not run a standalone examinations department with its own public number. Examinations sit inside the registrar function, bundled with admissions and registrations on one desk, and graduations and exemptions on another. Knowing that is the difference between reaching someone and being transferred twice.
Examination and graduation lines
- Admissions, registrations and examinations desk: 016 950 7671
- Graduations and exemptions: 016 950 9215
- Examination and graduation office location: room B110, main campus
- Qualification verifications and authentications: [email protected]
VUT publishes those two desks against named staff members rather than departmental mailboxes, so the direct numbers above are given without the individual addresses. They reach the same desk whoever currently holds the post.
General student contacts
- Student contact centre: 0861 861 888
- Student enquiries: [email protected]
- Switchboard: 016 950 9000
- Admissions: [email protected], or 016 950 9276
- IT helpdesk, for portal and login problems: 016 950 9111 or [email protected]
Related desks students confuse with exams
- Academic appeals, including exclusion appeals: [email protected] or 016 950 9268
- Work integrated learning registration: [email protected] or 016 950 7711
- NSFAS bursary queries: [email protected]
- Credit management and fee blocks: [email protected]
A withheld result is very often a fee block rather than an examination problem. If your marks are not showing, check with credit management before phoning the examinations desk, because the examinations office cannot release anything the finance system is holding.
Getting a result or a certificate query answered
Have your student number, the subject code and the examination period ready. For a remark or a recheck, note that these run to a deadline measured in days after results are published, not weeks, and the deadline is published with the results rather than announced separately. For a certificate or transcript needed by an employer, the verifications mailbox is the right route and it is the one employers themselves are told to use.
