West Pack Head Office Contact Details
Not every plastic container is food-safe, and reusing a container that held something else is a real hazard. If you sell food, packaging must be suitable for food contact, and the container that held paint or cleaning chemicals never becomes safe again.
ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory and is not a packaging supplier.
Selling food you have made
A home kitchen selling to the public is a food premises in law, and the requirements follow from that.
- A certificate of acceptability from municipal environmental health is required for premises handling food, including a home kitchen or a stall.
- Pre-packed food must be labelled, including the ingredients, allergens and date marking. Allergen declaration is not optional.
- Keep cold food cold and hot food hot, and do not hold cooked food warm for hours; that is where outbreaks start.
- Zoning consent may be needed to run a business from a residential property.
Practical points
Never decant chemicals into food or drink containers. It is the single most common cause of accidental poisoning of children, and a labelled bottle is not a substitute for the right one.
Free business support is available from Seda, and registering a company at CIPC is inexpensive and done directly. Suspected food poisoning goes to municipal environmental health, which inspects and can close premises. Verified 26 August 2026.
