Western TVET College, which trades as Westcol, runs five campuses west of Johannesburg from a corporate office in Randfontein, and each campus publishes its own number. There is a trap in how the site is built, though, and it is worth knowing before you dial. Every campus page lists a fax directly beneath its phone number, and both are marked up as clickable telephone links. Only the first of each pair reaches a person.
Official contact channels
- Corporate office: 011 692 4004, or 011 692 4082
- General enquiries: [email protected]
- Carletonville Campus: 018 787 4102
- Krugersdorp Campus: 011 953 1140
- Krugersdorp Campus West: 011 660 1709
- Randfontein Campus: 011 693 3608, or 011 693 3609
- Westonaria Campus: 011 784 1089
Six other numbers appear on the same pages and none of them will connect you to anybody. Each is labelled Fax where it appears, and each is also rendered as a clickable telephone link, so tapping the wrong one on a phone dials a fax machine:
- Corporate office fax: 011 692 3404
- Carletonville fax: 018 788 5115
- Krugersdorp fax: 011 665 2724
- Krugersdorp West fax: 011 660 8068
- Randfontein fax: 011 412 3047
- Westonaria fax: 011 784 1096
They are listed here so you can recognise and avoid them, not so you can use them. The Randfontein fax is the one most likely to catch someone out, because 011 412 3047 carries a different exchange from the campus phone number and does not look like a paired line at all.
Admissions and student support
Start with the campus you intend to study at rather than with the corporate office. Each campus has its own page, its own number and its own administration, and the corporate office in Randfontein will route an enquiry about a specific campus rather than resolve it.
The general mailbox, [email protected], is the written route and the better one where you need a record, since none of the campus numbers has a published mailbox of its own. The contact page also carries a message form, which submits under the Western TVET College privacy notice.
Funding is decided outside the college. Bursaries for TVET students run through the departmental bursary scheme rather than through the campus, so an application outcome is not something a campus office can change, though it can confirm what it has submitted.
Campus and address information
- Corporate office: Corporate Office Park, 42 Johnstone Street, Randfontein
- Carletonville Campus: 20 South Street, Carletonville
- Krugersdorp Campus: 32 Von Brandis Street, Krugersdorp
- Krugersdorp Campus West: 87 Figulus Street, Krugersdorp West
- Randfontein Campus: 9 Kiewiet Street, Helikonpark, Randfontein
- Westonaria Campus: 109 Botha Street, Westonaria
Opening hours are the same across the corporate office and all five campuses: Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:00, and Friday 07:30 to 13:30. Everything is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
The Friday close is the detail to plan around. The college shuts two and a half hours earlier than on other weekdays, so a Friday afternoon visit or call that would be comfortable at any other college is too late here.
Escalation routes
Work upward from the campus to the corporate office on 011 692 4004, and put anything unresolved in writing to [email protected] so that there is a record of when it was raised.
Westcol is a public TVET college and falls under the Department of Higher Education and Training, so a complaint the college has not resolved escalates to the department on 0800 87 2222 or at [email protected]. The department also runs a career helpline on 086 999 0123, which answers questions about what and where to study rather than complaints about a college.
