The Road Accident Fund runs its KwaZulu-Natal operation from Durban. It is one of the RAF’s six regional offices — the points where claims are actually lodged and processed — and it doubles as the province’s customer service centre. The RAF lists the same Durban CBD address under both its regional offices and its customer service centres, on the same number. There is no separate walk-in address for KwaZulu-Natal.
What a regional office actually does
The RAF describes regional offices as the central points where all claims are lodged and processed, staffed by information officers who help claimants lodge direct claims and check claim status, and they also serve as provincial offices. The customer service centres run the Patient Outreach Programme and are staffed by field case managers. In Durban both functions sit at the same address, so a claimant lodging a claim and a patient being followed up after an accident are directed to the same building.

Head office is at 2 Eco Glades Office Park, 420 Witch-Hazel Avenue, Centurion 0046, on 012 621 1691 between 07:45 and 16:00, fax 012 621 1640. Durban claimants rarely need it — the regional office handles the file — but it is the address for formal correspondence.
At the scene of an accident
The RAF publishes a short list of emergency numbers on its contact page for anyone involved in or witnessing a crash: 10111 for the police flying squad, 10177 for an ambulance, 112 from any mobile network, and 1022 if you cannot get through to emergency services at all. A claim needs the police accident report, so getting the case number at the scene matters more than anything you can do afterwards.
Before you pay anyone to lodge a claim
Lodging an RAF claim is free, and the information officers at the Durban regional office will help you do it directly. The RAF publishes a Know Your Rights guide covering the Contingency Fee Act, which governs what an attorney may charge you on a road accident claim.
