The RAF website looks broken, and mostly is
Typing raf.co.za into a browser usually fails. The secure site answers, then redirects you to the insecure version of the same address, which times out or returns a server error.
The pages themselves are up. They are reachable if you go straight to the full page address over https, for example the Contact Us page at raf.co.za/Contact-Us/Pages/default.aspx. That is how we read the details on this page.

The RAF describes regional offices as the central points where all claims are lodged and processed. They house information officers who help with lodging direct claims and with claim status, and they also serve as the provincial offices.
There are six of them for the whole country, and four provinces have none. If you are outside Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape or the Western Cape, the contact centre and the customer service centres are your route in.
The RAF also lists customer service centres, hospital service centres and walk-in centres separately on its site, along with a mobile support app and a self-service portal.
Two sets of contact centre hours
The RAF publishes the contact centre hours twice on the same page and the two do not agree. The contact block gives Monday to Friday 07:30 to 16:30, while a panel generated by the page’s own script gives 07:45 to 16:00.
The same thing happens with the mailbox. It appears as Contactcenter@raf.co.za in one place and contactcentre@raf.co.za in another. Email addresses ignore capitals, but center and centre are different words, so if one bounces try the other.
Treating the later opening and the earlier closing as correct, 07:45 to 16:00 on weekdays, is the safe assumption. Weekends are closed.

The RAF lists these for anyone involved in or witnessing a crash. None of them is an RAF number, and none of them takes a claim.
Before you call about a claim
Have your claim number if one has been issued, and the accident date. Claim status queries go to the regional office that is processing the claim, not to head office.
You do not need an attorney to lodge a claim. The RAF’s own information officers assist with direct lodgment, which is what the regional offices exist for.
Be wary of anyone who phones you offering to handle an RAF claim for a fee, or who asks for money up front. The channels above are the RAF’s own, and it publishes a fraud mailbox precisely because claim-related scams are common.
