The national traffic contact number is the RTMC National Traffic Call Centre on 0861 762 847, but South Africa has no single national traffic department with one phone number. Traffic offices, vehicle licensing and driving licence services are run by local authorities, so the number you need depends on the municipality that covers your town. Nationally, the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) runs the National Traffic Call Centre on 0861 762 847, and the Road Traffic Infringement Authority (RTIA) handles AARTO fines. Bronkhorstspruit traffic and licence department
Bronkhorstspruit falls under the City of Tshwane. The Bronkhorstspruit Licencing Office is on the corner of General Louis Botha and Kruger Streets, Bronkhorstspruit, telephone 013 932 6200. It is one of the City’s traffic fine payment centres, where you can pay traffic and by-law fines, query transgressions against your name and submit AARTO documents. Traffic fines can be paid Monday to Friday between 07:30 and 16:00. The City does not publish separate licence-counter working hours for Bronkhorstspruit, so phone before you go.

Joburg’s licensing pages list business hours of 7.30am to 3pm, and Langlaagte is the only station for foreign driver’s licence conversions. Those pages carry a 2018 footer, so treat the hours as a guide and phone first.
Gauteng traffic department
The Gauteng provincial government does not currently publish a readable Gauteng Traffic Police contact page: its department and contact pages returned errors when we checked on 26 September 2026. In Gauteng, day-to-day traffic and licensing is run by the metros (Tshwane, Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni) as agents of the province, so use the metro routes above. Services and responsibilities
Services differ from office to office, even within one municipality. Langeberg’s Ashton office lists roadworthy tests and licensing, learner’s and driving licences, vehicle registration, professional driving permits and NaTIS transactions. Robertson offers the same apart from roadworthy tests, while Bonnievale opens only on Tuesdays and Thursdays for vehicle registration and learner’s licences. Check your own office before you travel.
The RTMC coordinates road traffic management across national, provincial and local government. Its call centre takes reports of traffic offences, overloading, and fraud or corruption at vehicle testing stations and driving licence testing centres. When you report, give the province, town, street or junction, the date and time, and the vehicle’s registration number, make and colour. The RTMC says driving licence confirmation letters are free and issued only at its Centurion office.
The RTIA says it is the only entity legally allowed to administer and process AARTO fines. It has warned about cloned payment websites and fake fine notices sent by SMS, WhatsApp and email. Pay only through the payment platforms the RTIA lists.
