What the JMPD does and who takes fine queries
JMPD enforces traffic laws in Johannesburg and issues traffic fines there. Because Johannesburg falls under AARTO, fine queries are handled through the AARTO route rather than through a JMPD fines desk. The City’s traffic fines page says traffic fine queries should go to AARTO on 0861 231 123.
The number 011 375 5911 is the City’s emergency line for ambulance, fire and JMPD. Use it for emergencies only, not for fine queries.
Checking, paying and querying a JMPD fine
The online JMPD traffic fine system on the City’s e-Services website has been discontinued. The City now points motorists to payCity to view outstanding fines, and says payCity is an independent site that the City does not control.
- Check your outstanding fines on payCity (paycity.co.za), the independent site the City links to, or call the Joburg call centre on 0860 562 874 for a list.
- For a query about a fine, contact AARTO on 0861 231 123, as the City instructs.
- To pay online, use the payment link on the City’s e-Services traffic fines page.
If you suspect fraud or corruption involving City officials, the City’s anti-fraud hotline is 0800 002 587.
For other municipal and public service contacts, see the government directory H to K listings.
Where to go in person about a JMPD fine
The City of Johannesburg does not publish a walk-in address for traffic fine queries on its traffic fines or JMPD pages. Use the phone routes above.
