Facility services

The department’s published admission criteria describe an inpatient programme in three stages: one week of detoxification, an 11-week rehabilitation programme, and then 12 months of aftercare with the referring social worker. The centre treats adults of any gender whose primary diagnosis is a moderate or severe substance use disorder.

  • No walk-ins. Referral must come through a local social worker or an employee assistance programme, who prepares a psychosocial report, a home circumstances report and a medical report.
  • Admission days: Wednesdays between 08:00 and 13:00, by appointment confirmed with the referring social worker.
  • Before admission: psychiatric and medical conditions must be stabilised in hospital; people over 60 must be detoxed first; patients on chronic medication bring twelve weeks’ supply.
  • Readmission is allowed only twice.
