Bestmed Beat 2 Contact Details

Verified 2 September 2026Official source onlyIndependent directoryReport a wrong number

Beat 2 is one of the benefit options on Bestmed Medical Scheme rather than a scheme in its own right, and that shapes how you reach anybody about it. Bestmed publishes no per-option telephone numbers at all. It routes by function instead, so the same claims, authorisations and chronic medicine contacts serve every option including Beat 2. What changes between options is what is covered, not who answers the phone.

Official contact channels

Two of those stand apart from the rest. The preauthorisation line is the only tollfree 0800 number in the set, where the general and new business lines are 0860 and 086 share call numbers charged at a local rate. And the fraud and ethics channel runs through an external reporting service rather than through Bestmed itself, which is the point of it: a report does not pass through the people it might concern.

The same contact block appears on the Bestmed homepage and on its contact route, which is how these were confirmed rather than taken from a single page.

What this organisation provides

Bestmed is a registered medical scheme, and Beat is one of its option families. The scheme groups its options into hospital plans, network plans, savings plans and comprehensive plans, and publishes a compare plans tool alongside a brochures, guides and forms section. BEAT3 Plus is among the more recent additions to the family, which is a reminder that option names and their contents change between benefit years.

Benefits are documented by area rather than by option, with separate published sections for oncology, prescribed minimum benefits, radiology, medicine and chronic benefits, HIV and Aids, diabetes, maternity care, back and neck, and preauthorisation. The scheme also runs a wellness programme called Tempo, free to members, with health and emotional wellbeing assessments that can now be completed online.

Which of those apply to Beat 2 in particular is set out in the option brochure rather than anywhere on a contact page. Download the current brochure from the brochures, guides and forms section before you call, because the first two questions on any benefit query will be which option you are on and which benefit year you are asking about.

Address and operating information

No street address, postal address or office hours appear in the published contact block. The scheme operates through its telephone lines, its function mailboxes and a member portal rather than through a walk-in office, so there is nowhere to hand documents over in person.

Only the emergency number is published as a 24 hour service. No operating hours are given for the general line, the authorisations line or any of the mailboxes, so treat them as business hours channels and use email where you need something on record outside them.

Support and escalation routes

Go to the function rather than to the general line wherever one exists, since the mailboxes above are staffed separately. A chronic medicine query sent to claims, or an authorisation request sent to member service, will be forwarded rather than answered.

Preauthorisation deserves particular attention on any option. Bestmed publishes it as its own benefit area with its own dedicated tollfree line, which is a fair indication of how central it is to whether a claim is paid. Get the authorisation reference before a planned admission and keep it, because the reference is what settles a later dispute about whether cover was confirmed.

If the scheme does not resolve a matter through member service, medical schemes in South Africa are regulated by the Council for Medical Schemes. That is the statutory body for an unresolved complaint, and it is also the right place when the dispute is about whether the scheme applied its own registered rules correctly, which is a different question from whether a benefit exists. Suspected fraud goes to the ethics line rather than through the complaints route.
