The Mr Price Insurance claims and enquiries line is 0861 000 518, and you can email claims to insuranceclaims@mrpg.com or general insurance questions and complaints to insuranceinfo@mrpg.com. Mr Price Insurance, also called MRP Insurance, is the optional cover sold through Mr Price Money to Mr Price Money, Miladys and Sheet Street account holders and cash customers, with Mr Price Group Ltd acting as administrator and Guardrisk Life Limited as the insurer.

The official Mr Price Insurance route
Mr Price Group Ltd’s Insurance Claims Department handles claims, policy questions, cancellations and complaints for MRP Insurance. The one number for all of these is the sharecall line 0861 000 518. Each task has its own mailbox:

Mr Price Insurance plans and cover
The plans named on Mr Price first-party sources are the Family Funeral Plan, the Lost Card Protection Plan and device cover. Plans can be bought or activated from the insurance product page at mrpmoney.com/en_za/mrpinsurance.
- Family Funeral Plan: benefit options range from R7,500 to R50,000, including an extended age band of 61 to 75. There is a 3-month waiting period for natural death, and suicide is excluded in the first 12 months.
- Lost Card Protection Plan: R6.50 per month for R15,000 cover against fraudulent use of a lost or stolen Mr Price Money, Sheet Street or Miladys card, plus R300 for personal items and R250 for replacing your ID or driver’s licence. It includes a 24-hour Trauma Assistance Helpline on 0861 127 326, a benefit provided by a third party.
How to claim
- Complete the claim form attached to your Welcome Letter.
- Hand it in at a Mr Price, Miladys or Sheet Street store, where staff email it to the Insurance Claims Department, or email it yourself to insuranceclaims@mrpg.com.
- Attach the supporting documents, including a certified copy of the beneficiary or claimant’s bank statement not older than 3 months, and an affidavit if the surnames differ.
- For a funeral claim, claim within 4 months of the death. Later claims need an affidavit explaining the delay.
Who can take MRP Insurance and what it costs
MRP Insurance is offered to Mr Price Money, Miladys and Sheet Street account holders and to cash customers. Premiums are debited monthly to the customer’s Mr Price Money, Miladys or Sheet Street account.
To cancel a policy you must give 31 days’ written notice. Send it to cancelinsurance@mrpg.com or call 0861 000 518.
Mr Price Group Ltd (registration number 1933/004418/06) is the administrator and an authorised financial services provider, FSP 31450, and a registered credit provider, NCRCP46. The insurer, Guardrisk Life Limited (registration number 1999/013922/06), is FSP 76.
Escalating a complaint or a rejected claim
- Complain to Mr Price Group Ltd first on 0861 000 518 or insuranceinfo@mrpg.com.
- If they cannot help you, escalate the complaint to the insurer, Guardrisk, on 0860 333 361 or complaints@guardrisk.co.za.
- If a claim is rejected, appeal to Guardrisk in writing within 90 days of the rejection letter.
