SPAR customer care is on 0860 313 141. But before you call it, know this: SPAR stores in South Africa are typically owned and run by independent retailers under licence, not by SPAR itself. That changes who can actually fix a problem at a particular store.
ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory and is not SPAR or any SPAR store.
Why the store owner matters more than head office
SPAR operates on a licensing model. The group supplies and supports stores; the individual store is a separate business with its own owner, staff and decisions on pricing, stock and service.
- Start with the store manager or owner. At an independently owned store this is the person who can authorise a refund or correct a price, immediately.
- Head office can escalate but does not run the store. Expect it to route your complaint to the owner rather than resolve it directly.
- This also explains inconsistency between branches. Prices, promotions and stock vary between SPAR stores in a way they do not between corporate chain branches.
- The formats differ too: SUPERSPAR, SPAR, KWIKSPAR and SPAR Express are different store types, not different companies.

Pricing disputes, and what the law says
The most common grocery complaint is a shelf price that does not match the till price. Under the Consumer Protection Act a supplier may not charge more than the displayed price, and where two prices are displayed, the lower one applies.
- Photograph the shelf label before you leave, showing the product and price together.
- Raise it at the store immediately, since the manager can correct it on the spot.
- Keep the till slip, which identifies the store, date and till.
- An obvious mistake is treated differently: a supplier may correct a genuine and obvious pricing error, so a nominal price on an expensive item is not automatically enforceable.

Frequently asked questions
What is SPAR’s customer care number?
0860 313 141, published on SPAR’s own customer care page.
Why does head office not just fix my complaint?
Because SPAR stores are generally independently owned under licence. The store owner makes the decisions, so head office routes complaints there.
The till charged more than the shelf price.
You may not be charged more than the displayed price. Photograph the label, raise it with the manager, and keep the slip.
