Vuma does not sell an R399 package, and it does not publish retail prices at all. Vuma is the open-access network operator: it builds the line and sells capacity to internet service providers, who set their own monthly prices and hold your contract. An R399 fibre offer therefore comes from a provider, not from Vuma, and the price, terms and support attached to it are that provider’s. Vuma’s own published line is 010 746 8862, for technical assistance and outages. Verified on 18 August 2026.

Why Vuma has no price list
Under an open-access model the network operator and the retailer are deliberately separated. Vuma runs the physical fibre and sells wholesale capacity; providers compete over that same infrastructure on price, contract length, router quality and support. This is why two houses on the same street, on identical lines, can pay noticeably different amounts and phone entirely different call centres.
It also means a headline figure such as R399 is only meaningful once you know four things: which provider is offering it, what speed it provisions, what the contract term and early-termination terms are, and whether installation, the router and pro-rata charges are included. A price alone tells you almost nothing.
How to find what is genuinely available at your address
- Run the coverage checker on vumatel.co.za with your street address. It confirms whether the network reaches you and which product serves it, either Vuma Fibre Core or Vuma Fibre Reach.
- Note the providers it returns. Only those sell on your line, so any offer from a company not on that list cannot be delivered to your address.
- Go to each provider’s own domain by typing it yourself, and compare current pricing there rather than in an advertisement or a directory.
- Confirm the total first-month cost, including installation, router and pro-rata, before agreeing to anything.
Best contact route by issue
- Price, promotion or a package change: your internet service provider. Vuma cannot alter what you pay.
- A debit order you did not expect: the provider that invoices you, in writing, before the next collection date.
- Coverage before signing up: the Vuma coverage checker, then a provider on the returned list.
- Line fault or outage after installation: the network status page, then 010 746 8862 or your provider.
- Billing where Vumatel invoices you directly: [email protected] for an enquiry, [email protected] for a formal dispute.
Complaints and escalation
Take a pricing or contract dispute to the provider that sold you the package, since that is who you contracted with. Where Vumatel bills you directly, a formal billing dispute notice must reach [email protected] within thirty calendar days of the invoice date, and at least five business days before the due date if you intend to withhold the disputed amount. The undisputed portion of the invoice must still be paid in full and on time.
Vumatel undertakes to acknowledge a dispute within three business days with a reference number and to respond with a determination within fourteen business days, and not to disconnect or apply late-payment penalties while a properly lodged dispute is being determined. If you remain dissatisfied afterwards, ICASA can be approached on 012 568 3000, at [email protected], or through icasa.org.za. A dispute can be rejected if it is late or incomplete, and no route guarantees a refund.
What to prepare
- The advertisement or quote showing the price you were offered, with the date and where you saw it.
- Your signed order or acceptance, which sets the terms you are actually bound by.
- Invoices showing what was charged against what was promised.
- Your service address, provider and account number.
- Any reference number from an earlier call, with the date.
Scam and verification checks
A specific low price attached to a well-known network name is a common hook, because the figure feels concrete and the brand feels safe. Since Vuma publishes no pricing whatsoever, no advertisement quoting a Vuma price is quoting Vuma.
- Never pay a deposit to secure a deal before an order is confirmed on a provider’s own domain or a signed order is issued.
- Do not transfer money to a personal bank account. Legitimate providers bill company accounts and issue invoices.
- Check the domain letter by letter. Lookalike domains and social media pages using an operator’s logo are easy to create.
- Never disclose one-time passwords, card numbers, banking login details or your ID number to secure a promotion.
- Preserve evidence. Keep the advert, the chat and any proof of payment. If money has left your account, notify your bank immediately and report it to the South African Police Service.

Frequently asked questions
Does Vuma offer an R399 fibre package?
No. As at 18 August 2026 the official Vumatel website publishes no consumer pricing, and no R399 package appears anywhere on it. Any R399 offer is set by an internet service provider selling over the Vuma network, and its terms belong to that provider.
What is the safest official contact route?
For pricing, the provider’s own domain and published contact details. For coverage, the checker on vumatel.co.za. For a line fault after installation, Vuma customer care on 010 746 8862.
What should I do if I cannot get help?
Escalate in writing through the provider’s formal complaint process. Where Vumatel bills you directly, use [email protected] within the thirty-day dispute window, then approach ICASA on 012 568 3000 or [email protected] with your reference number and correspondence.
How can I confirm a Vuma offer is genuine?
Run your address through the coverage checker on vumatel.co.za, note which providers it returns, and buy only from one of those on its own domain. Confirm the total first-month cost in writing before paying anything.
