Vuma does not sell a wifi service and there is no “Vuma Wifi” support desk. Vuma installs and maintains the fibre line to your home. The wifi in your house comes from a router supplied by your internet service provider, which is who you contact when the signal is weak or the password stops working. Vuma’s published line for network faults is 010 746 8862. Verified against the official Vumatel website on 18 August 2026.

Fibre problem or wifi problem?
Almost every complaint described as “Vuma wifi not working” is one of two different faults, and telling them apart decides who you should call.
- The line is down. Nothing connects, on any device, anywhere in the house. The lights on the ONT, the small box the installer mounted on your wall, will usually show it. Check vumatel.co.za/network-status, then report it to your provider or phone Vuma on 010 746 8862.
- The wifi is weak. The connection works near the router but drops in the back bedroom, or a device cannot find the network. That is your router and your home layout, and it belongs with your provider, who supplied the equipment.
A quick test settles it. Plug a laptop into the router with a network cable. If the cabled connection works and only wireless devices struggle, the fibre line is fine and the problem is wifi. If the cable also fails, the line or the ONT is the issue.
Best contact route by issue
- Wifi password, network name or a new device that will not join: your internet service provider.
- Weak signal in part of the house, or a router replacement: your provider, who supplies and supports the equipment.
- Total outage affecting the whole area: check the network status page, then Vuma on 010 746 8862.
- Damaged cable, open trench or a broken box in the street: Vuma customer care, because that infrastructure is theirs.
- Slower speeds than you pay for: run a speed test on a cabled connection, then approach your provider, who controls the package the line is provisioned at.
Self-service options
Vuma publishes a self-service app with features for both Core and Reach customers, alongside the network status page, the coverage checker and speed test servers on vumatel.co.za. The coverage checker confirms which product serves your address and which providers sell on your line, which is the fastest way to work out who supports your router if you have forgotten who you signed up with.
Before contacting anyone, restart the router, check whether a cabled connection works, and confirm no area outage is already logged. Those three steps resolve or correctly diagnose most reported wifi faults.
Complaints and escalation
Complain to the party responsible for the fault. Router and wifi complaints go through your provider’s own process first, because they hold your contract. Complaints about the fibre line, the installation or Vuma’s conduct go in writing to [email protected], with your full particulars and contact details, your relationship with Vumatel and any reference numbers, your reasons in enough detail to be assessed, and supporting evidence.
Vumatel undertakes to acknowledge within three business days with a reference number and to determine the matter within fourteen business days. If you remain dissatisfied after Vumatel has had that opportunity, ICASA can be approached on 012 568 3000, at [email protected], or through icasa.org.za, and unresolved matters may be referred to its Complaints and Compliance Committee.
What to prepare
- Your service address, since fibre records attach to the property.
- Your provider and account number, taken from your invoice.
- What the ONT lights show and whether a cabled connection works.
- A speed test result taken over a cable rather than over wifi.
- Any reference number from an earlier report, with the date.
Scam and verification checks
Because no Vuma wifi product exists, an offer built around that name deserves particular caution. Free or cheap “Vuma wifi” packages advertised on social media are not Vuma products.
- Check the domain yourself. Type vumatel.co.za rather than following a link, and confirm any product name against what is actually published there.
- Do not pay a stranger for a connection or a router. Equipment and installation are contracted through a provider that invoices you.
- Never disclose one-time passwords, banking login details, card numbers or your router’s admin password to a caller or a messaging contact.
- Refuse remote-access apps. Nobody needs control of your phone to fix wifi.
- Preserve evidence. If money has already left your account, notify your bank immediately and report it to the South African Police Service.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a Vuma Wifi product?
No. As at 18 August 2026 the official Vumatel website publishes no product called Vuma Wifi. The consumer product lines are Vuma Fibre Core and Vuma Fibre Reach, both of which deliver a fibre line rather than a wireless service. Wifi is produced by the router your provider supplies.
What is the safest official contact route?
For a wifi or router problem, your internet service provider, contacted through the details on your invoice or their own domain. For a line fault or outage, Vuma customer care on 010 746 8862, which the official site designates for technical assistance and outage reports.
What should I do if I cannot get help?
Escalate through your provider’s formal complaint process for equipment matters. For Vuma’s own conduct or the line itself, write to [email protected] and hold them to the three and fourteen business day timeframes, then approach ICASA on 012 568 3000 or [email protected] if still unresolved.
How can I confirm that these details are current?
Open vumatel.co.za directly and read the contact page and the coverage checker. Product names and numbers change, so confirm on the official domain before acting on any offer that involves money or personal information.
