Fundi, trading as FundiCapital (Pty) Ltd, is a South African education finance provider. It funds study fees, accommodation and study-related costs, and issues the FundiCard used to draw student allowances. The contact details below were read from fundi.co.za on 2 September 2026.

Official contact channels

0860 55 55 44 is the call centre; 011 670 6100 is reception. The two are listed side by side on Fundi’s contact page and are easily confused – reception is the head office switchboard and will transfer you, so use the 0860 line for an account, a card or an application.

Fundi also takes comments, complaints and enquiries through a form on its site, where you pick a reason before writing. Choosing the right reason routes the message; a general message tends to travel further before it lands.

What this organisation provides

Fundi finances tuition, accommodation and study costs, administers bursary funds on behalf of sponsors, runs the FUNDI Shop for study materials and devices, and operates a mobile app. It marked 30 years in 2026.

The FundiCard is where most queries come from. It holds allowances in separate pockets – a cash allowance, a transport allowance and an accommodation portion – and Fundi’s own FAQs cover the questions students actually ask: why funds have not loaded, whether money can move between pockets, how to draw cash, how to pay an accommodation merchant by USSD, how to block a lost card, and how to change the cellphone number on the account.

Funds not appearing is usually a sponsor timing issue, not a card fault. Fundi disburses what a bursary or loan sponsor has released, so if a pocket is empty the question is often when the funder paid – worth asking before assuming the card is broken.

Keep the cellphone number on your account current. It is what the card, the app and the USSD payments authenticate against, and an out-of-date number locks you out of your own allowance at the worst moment.

Address and operating information

Head office: 14th Avenue, Weltevredenpark, Roodepoort, Johannesburg.

Fundi also runs offices on or near campuses, found through the branch finder on its site. For anything needing documents or a card in hand, the campus office is usually faster than the call centre – that is what they are there for.

Support and escalation routes

Raise a dispute on 0860 55 55 44 or [email protected], quoting your student or account number and the dates, and keep the reference.

Where Fundi has lent you money, that is a credit agreement under the National Credit Act. The National Credit Regulator handles complaints about credit providers and the conduct of credit agreements, and the National Financial Ombud Scheme resolves credit and lending disputes free of charge. A registered debt counsellor can apply for debt review if study debt has become unmanageable alongside other credit.

Where a bursary sponsor funds you, Fundi administers rather than decides. A refusal or a change to an award is the sponsor’s decision – NSFAS, a provincial bursary or a private funder – so appeal to them, not to Fundi. A personal information complaint goes to the Information Regulator.
