Saturday mornings are open, which is unusual for a business school and useful if you are studying while working. Regent gives its hours in Central African Time, the same as South African Standard Time – relevant because it enrols students across the region.
Regent publishes one enquiry number and one mailbox rather than departmental lines. Existing students use the MyRegent portal and the REGENT Online learning system.
Admissions and student support
Regent offers higher certificates, diplomas and advanced diplomas, bachelor’s degrees including BCom and Public Administration, BCom Honours, postgraduate diplomas across management, finance, digital business, supply chain and project management, an MBA and an MBA in Healthcare Management, and a Doctor of Business Administration.
Check which qualification a programme actually leads to before you pay. A higher certificate, a diploma and a degree sit at different NQF levels with different entry requirements and different onward options – and at this school they are marketed side by side. Ask what the qualification lets you do next, not just what it is called.
Student support includes a Centre for Teaching and Learning, a library, counselling and student support services. Fees are published per programme for the year, and there are separate fee schedules for the MBA and MBA Healthcare Management.
Campus and address information
Regent publishes no single campus address on its contact page. Its 031 number is a Durban landline, and it operates through learning centres rather than a campus – so the place you visit depends on where you are enrolled.
Confirm which learning centre serves you before enrolling, particularly if you expect face-to-face support. Distance study with a centre nearby is a different experience from distance study without one.
Escalation routes
With any private institution, verify the registration before you enrol. Regent publishes a DHET Certificate in its site footer alongside its BBBEE certificate. Ask for the DHET registration number and check it against the Department of Higher Education and Training’s register of private higher education institutions – an unregistered provider cannot issue a recognised qualification, whatever its marketing says.
Raise an academic or administrative matter through the school first, quoting your student number and dates, and keep the correspondence.
Beyond the school, a complaint about a private higher education institution goes to the Department of Higher Education and Training. A dispute about a qualification’s standing is a matter for the Council on Higher Education, which accredits programmes, and SAQA maintains the National Qualifications Framework. A fees or contract dispute falls under the Consumer Protection Act and goes to the National Consumer Commission, and a personal information complaint to the Information Regulator.
