What this organisation provides
The contract to manage the centre has been held since 2000 by Bloemfontein Correctional Contracts, a private company. G4S South Africa states that it holds only a non controlling minority investment in that company, that it announced in November 2019 it would stop investing in correctional services in South Africa, and that the department has issued a notice of termination to the contractor.
Address and operating information
The DCS call centre operates during office hours, 07:15 to 15:45. Because the operating contract has been under termination, the durable route for an enquiry is the department rather than the contractor, and the department is the body that remains accountable for the centre whoever manages it.
Support and escalation routes
Do not assume G4S is the operator. It describes itself as a minority investor that is exiting correctional services in South Africa, and its South African service list covers security work rather than custody.
