Register Domain SA is a South African domain registrar and hosting provider, accredited by ZADNA to register .za domains. It runs two city numbers rather than a single national line, plus a support ticket system.

Official contact channels

Check the network status page before logging a ticket about a site or mailbox being down. A platform wide incident will already be posted there, and reading it first saves waiting in a queue for an answer that is on the page.

What this organisation provides

The core service is domain registration, together with domain transfers, domain pricing and a reseller programme for people selling domains on to their own clients. Alongside that it sells web hosting, email hosting, WordPress hosting, LiteSpeed hosting and enterprise hosting, a website builder, managed and self managed servers, and SSL certificates. It publishes a terms of service, a domain disputes policy, a privacy policy and a POPI statement.

Address and operating information

Only the two city telephone numbers are published, one for Cape Town and one for Johannesburg, with no walk in address given for customers. Because hosting and domain support is handled through the ticket system, a written ticket usually leaves a better record than a phone call when a technical fault needs to be traced later. Quote the domain name itself in any contact, since the account is keyed to it.

Support and escalation routes

Raise a technical or billing problem on a ticket first so it is logged. Beyond the company, know which body owns which problem. A dispute over who is entitled to a .za domain name is not settled by the registrar at all: the .za Domain Name Authority, ZADNA, is the statutory regulator of the .za namespace and .za domain disputes run through the alternative dispute resolution process made under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act. A complaint about how your personal information was handled goes to the Information Regulator of South Africa under POPIA. An ordinary billing or service dispute falls to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud on 0860 000 272, with the National Consumer Commission above it.
