Eskom Pension Fund Contact Details

The Eskom Pension and Provident Fund, usually shortened to EPPF, is the retirement fund for Eskom employees and pensioners. It is a separate legal entity from Eskom itself, so a pension query goes to the fund and not to the utility. The fund runs a toll-free line, a WhatsApp channel and two USSD codes.

Official provider route

Use the toll-free number rather than the switchboard for anything about your own benefit. The switchboard reaches the building; the call centre reaches the people who can see your record.

The fund also publishes two self-service USSD codes, which work from any handset without data: dial *120*1037# for general self-service, or *134*20072# for EOS self-service. For a pensioner without a smartphone these are usually the fastest route to a balance or a status check.

Product or service support

  • The fund serves four distinct member groups: in-service members, deferred members, pensioners and beneficiaries
  • Each group has its own portal section, reached from the top of the fund website
  • An EPPF mobile app is published for Android and iOS
  • Member guides, FAQs, educational videos and brochures are published for self-help

Identify which of the four groups you fall into before you call, because the rules differ sharply between them. A deferred member who has left Eskom but not yet drawn a benefit is treated differently from a pensioner already being paid, and the documents each must submit are not the same.

Eligibility, account or policy requirements

  • Membership follows Eskom employment, so eligibility is not something the fund can grant on request
  • Have your member or pension number ready, along with your identity number, before calling
  • Beneficiary claims require the fund to trace and consider all dependants, which is a legal duty and the main reason death benefit payments take time
  • Postal address for documents: Private Bag X50, Bryanston, 2152

On a death benefit, the delay is usually not administrative slowness. The law requires the trustees to identify every dependant before allocating, so submitting a complete list of dependants early is the single thing that speeds a claim up.

Escalation route

  • Raise it with the fund first on 0800 11 45 48 or info@eppf.co.za, and keep the reference
  • Head office and Johannesburg walk-in centre: Isivuno House, EPPF Office Park, 24 Georgian Crescent, Bryanston East, Johannesburg, 2191
  • To report fraud, theft or unethical conduct, the fund runs an independent hotline: free call 0800 212 320, email eppf@thehotline.co.za, or SMS 30916
  • A complaint the fund does not resolve goes to the Pension Funds Adjudicator, the statutory body for retirement fund disputes

Keep the two channels apart. The call centre handles benefit and administration queries, while the hotline is an independent whistleblowing line for misconduct and is run by an outside provider in all eleven official languages, around the clock.

The fund publishes contact details for regional Retirement Fund Consultants who are named individuals reachable on personal mobile numbers. Those are not reproduced here; ask the call centre to put you in touch with the consultant for your province instead.
