Most people looking for Experian want one of two things: a copy of their credit report, or to dispute something on it. Experian handles both through a single online platform rather than by telephone, and its office numbers are not consumer helplines. There is one point that will save a wasted journey, and Experian states it plainly on its own contact page: on-site consumer enquiries are not available at any Experian office. You cannot walk in with a dispute. The routes that do work for consumers are the online platform, a dedicated WhatsApp number, and a chatbot. The office numbers below are published for completeness and for business callers, not as a way around the online process. All details come from Experian’s own contact page.
Official contact channels
- Consumer queries WhatsApp: +27 79 127 4906
- Credit report, queries and disputes: up.experian.co.za, the Up platform powered by Experian, where the report updates daily and disputes can be logged directly
- Chatbot: Ed, available on the Up platform
- Johannesburg (head office): 011 799 3400 — Ballyoaks Office Park
- Stellenbosch (head office): 021 888 6000 — Experian House, 3 Neutron Avenue, Techno Park
- Durban (sales office): 011 799 3400 — Umhlanga Ridge
Two things about that list are as Experian publishes them rather than errors on this page: it names both Johannesburg and Stellenbosch as head offices, and it gives the Durban sales office the same telephone number as Johannesburg.
What this organisation provides
Experian is a credit bureau operating in South Africa, holding credit information on consumers and supplying it to credit providers, alongside data, identity and fraud services for businesses. As a registered credit bureau it sits under the National Credit Act, which gives you rights that matter here: you are entitled to see your credit record and to challenge information on it that you believe is wrong. The Up platform is how Experian delivers both of those, which is why it directs consumers there rather than to a call centre.
Address and operating information
Experian publishes no consumer operating hours, and explicitly states that on-site consumer enquiries are not available at any of its offices — so treat the addresses above as corporate locations only and do not travel to them with a credit dispute. The online platform runs continuously and the credit report on it updates daily, which makes it the practical route at any hour.
Support and escalation routes
- Get your credit report first at up.experian.co.za, so any dispute refers to what the record actually says.
- Log the dispute through the same platform. Keep the reference — a bureau dispute runs to a statutory timetable and the reference is how you track it.
- Use the consumer WhatsApp number for queries about the process rather than the office switchboards.
- If a dispute is not resolved, a complaint about a credit bureau can be taken to the National Credit Regulator, which supervises registered bureaus, or to the credit ombud scheme that deals with bureau information disputes.
- Remember that the underlying listing usually originates with a credit provider, so a factual dispute may also need to be raised with the lender that supplied the data.
