A FASTA loan is decided and paid out entirely online, so most of what goes wrong is a step in the application rather than something a phone call can fix — and there is no phone line in any case. Knowing the sequence in advance is what prevents the delay. Three steps trip people up: submitting bank statements, completing a Face ID check, and accepting the DebiCheck mandate, which is a bank-side authorisation of the debit order rather than anything FASTA controls. If the mandate is not accepted, the loan does not proceed. There is also one deadline on this page that is easy to miss entirely and expensive to miss: a credit protection insurance claim must be notified within six months, and it goes to a separate administrator, not to FASTA. All details come from FASTA’s own site.

Product or service support
FASTA lends up to R15 000, repayable over a minimum of one and a maximum of six monthly instalments, with payout advertised in seconds once approved and available at weekends and on public holidays. Its published representative example is worth reading before applying, because short-term credit is expensive and the figures make that concrete: borrowing R15 000 over six months at an annual interest rate linked to prime, quoted at 28.75%, carries an initiation fee of R1 207.50, a monthly service fee of R69 and credit protection insurance of R68.48 a month, giving a maximum APR of 123% and a total amount repayable of R18 418.25. Those are FASTA’s own published figures.
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
- A South African ID number, and you must be 18 or older.
- Three months’ bank statements, plus your mobile number and online banking details.
- A Face ID check, which FASTA uses to confirm identity. Its FAQs cover what to prepare for it.
- Acceptance of the DebiCheck mandate, authorising the debit order. This is confirmed through your own bank, and the loan cannot proceed without it.
- Affordability and credit checks, which FASTA states all applications are subject to.
Escalation route
- Notify an insurance claim within six months. FASTA states the administrator must be notified of all claims as soon as possible and within six months of the death, disability or retrenchment of the policyholder. Contact Monitor Administrators on 031 812 2044 or [email protected] — not FASTA itself.
- For arrears, email [email protected] before the due date rather than after, and keep the sent message.
- If unresolved, escalate to the National Credit Regulator on 011 554 2600 or 0860 627 627, or the National Financial Ombud Scheme on 0860 800 900.
- If a loan was taken out in your name fraudulently, FASTA recommends contacting the Southern African Fraud Prevention Service at [email protected] alongside reporting it to [email protected].
