East Lynne Clinic Contact Details

East Lynne Clinic is a primary healthcare clinic run by the City of Tshwane, in Region 5 of the metro. Two things are commonly got wrong about it: several directories describe it as a Gauteng provincial clinic, and several publish telephone numbers that do not match the city’s own list. The details below are from the City of Tshwane’s published clinic schedule.

The city also lists internal extension 6692 for the clinic’s nursing manager.
Numbers to ignore. Directory sites variously give 012 800 1727 and 012 358 3443 for this clinic. Neither appears on the City of Tshwane list, and 012 358 3443 belongs to a different Tshwane clinic entirely.

The city’s schedule also prints the personal mobile number of the clinic’s named Chief Community Health Nurse. That is not reproduced here. It is an individual staff member’s number rather than a clinic line, staff change, and the switchboard above reaches the clinic regardless of who is on duty.

Services and responsibilities

Primary healthcare – the first point of contact in the public health system, treating everyday illness and referring on to a community health centre or hospital when needed.
Typical clinic services include child health and immunisation, women’s health and family planning, basic antenatal care, HIV testing and treatment, tuberculosis services, chronic disease care such as hypertension and diabetes, and minor curative care.
Primary healthcare at a public clinic is free at the point of care for most services. You are not turned away for inability to pay.
This clinic is not a 24-hour facility and has no casualty unit. It closes at 16:00 on weekdays and does not open at weekends.

For an emergency, do not go to the clinic. Call an ambulance on 10177, or 112 from a mobile phone, and go to a hospital emergency unit. Tshwane also runs clinics and community health centres that stay open 24 hours; the clinic can tell you which is nearest.

The City of Tshwane spells the building Pieter Crynauw Centre; some listings write it as Pieter Krynauw. It is the same place.
Weekdays: 07:30 – 16:00. Closed Saturdays and Sundays.
Note that some Tshwane clinics do open on Saturday mornings from 08:00 to 13:00, but East Lynne is not one of them on the city’s current schedule.
Arrive early. Public clinics work through a queue from opening, and arriving mid-morning frequently means being turned away for the day rather than merely waiting.

Applications and escalation

Bring your identity document and clinic card, and the Road to Health booklet for a child. Continuity of care at a clinic depends on the file, and a missing card usually means starting the record again.
Complaints go first to the clinic’s nursing manager, who must record them, and then to the City of Tshwane Health regional office for Region 5.
Unresolved complaints about the standard of care go to the Office of Health Standards Compliance, whose Health Ombud investigates serious complaints about public health establishments, independently of the municipality.
