Who actually owns it
- It is a joint venture between Toyota Tsusho Africa, a CFAO South Africa subsidiary, and Ogihara Thailand
- Ogihara is a Japanese automotive body-stamping group. The South African operation is part of that international network rather than a local company that happens to share the name
- The plant makes smaller stamped automotive body parts for locally built Toyota models, named as the Hilux, Fortuner and Corolla
- Production was scheduled to begin in July 2025, so it is a recent operation
Supplying or working with the plant
- Supplier and procurement approaches go through CFAO South Africa, not to the plant gate. A tier-two automotive supplier is qualified through the group, not locally
- Automotive component supply usually requires IATF 16949 quality certification. Approaching without it rarely goes anywhere
- For premises, utilities or logistics questions about the site itself, Dube TradePort is the landlord and operator of the precinct
- This is a manufacturing plant. It does not sell parts to the public, and a Toyota part is bought through a Toyota dealer
