Sasol CSI is the corporate social investment arm of Sasol, covering community and social development spending as distinct from sponsorships and from enterprise and supplier development. Sasol publishes a separate mailbox for each of those three, and sending a proposal to the wrong one is the usual reason it goes unanswered.
Sasol CSI and related contacts
- Corporate social investment: [email protected]
- Group sponsorships: [email protected]
- Enterprise and supplier development: [email protected]
- Group switchboard: 010 344 5000
- Media relations: [email protected]
All of these are departmental mailboxes rather than named individuals, so they survive staff changes. Sasol does not publish a direct telephone line for the CSI team; the switchboard is the only voice route.
CSI, sponsorship or supplier development
Which mailbox you want depends on what you are asking for, not on how big the request is.
- Corporate social investment is grant funding for community, education, health, skills and environmental projects, usually near Sasol operations. It expects a non-profit or public benefit organisation on the other side
- Sponsorship is a commercial exchange: Sasol pays and receives brand exposure. Sports, arts and events proposals belong here, not with CSI
- Enterprise and supplier development supports small businesses that want to supply Sasol or grow within its value chain. It is not a grant programme
What a CSI proposal needs
Corporate funders screen on compliance before they ever read the project narrative, so assemble that first. Expect to need your registration as a non-profit company, non-profit organisation or public benefit organisation, your section 18A tax status if you are claiming it, audited financial statements, the identity of your board, a project budget with clear line items, and a statement of how you measure outcomes rather than activities. Say plainly which Sasol operating area your beneficiaries live in, because proximity to operations drives most industrial CSI allocations.
Procurement is a separate route
- Supplier management: 086 010 4777
- Supplier and shared services queries: [email protected]
- A supplier registration is not a CSI or ESD application and is handled through the Sasol supplier portal
Escalation
- If a proposal has had no response, follow up through the same mailbox with the original date and reference rather than opening a new thread
- For anything that looks like solicitation of a bribe or facilitation fee in exchange for funding, use the Sasol group switchboard on 010 344 5000 and ask for the ethics line
- Sasol does not charge a fee to consider a funding application; anyone asking for one is not Sasol
