The eMalahleni campus is one of only two Tshwane University of Technology campuses outside Gauteng, alongside Mbombela. It sits in the Mpumalanga coal belt, roughly 130 kilometres east of the Pretoria campus where most of the university central administration is, and that distance shapes what you can and cannot do on site.

eMalahleni campus

TUT contact centre

The campus number reaches the campus office. It does not reach student records, finance or admissions, all of which are run centrally, so for anything to do with your application, your fees or your registration status the contact centre is the faster route even though it feels less local.

What can only be done at the campus

Before you travel to campus

Confirm on 013 653 3107 that the person or office you need is there that day, and take your student card for gate access. If you are coming from Middelburg, Ogies or the mines further out, note that the campus keeps ordinary university office hours rather than shift hours, so an early or late visit will find the administrative offices closed even when the campus itself is open.

Which campus your programme belongs to

TUT does not run the same qualifications everywhere. A programme offered at eMalahleni may not exist at Pretoria or Soshanguve and the reverse is equally true, so check the faculty listing before assuming you can transfer between campuses. Where a programme does run at more than one campus, the timetable, the lecturer and the assessment schedule are still campus specific.
