Lexmark Contact Details
Lexmark South Africa publishes one number and one mailbox, and both are for sales rather than for a broken printer. Technical support is a separate system entirely, and sending a support question to the sales address is the slow way round.
Lexmark South Africa contact details
- Telephone: +27 11 244 2600
- Email: safsalessupport@lexmark.com
- Company: Lexmark International SA (Pty) Ltd, commercial registration number 1939/012321/07, Pretoria
- International and USA head office: Lexmark International, Inc., 740 W. New Circle Road, Lexington
The mailbox name says what it is: sales support. Use it for a quote, a reseller question, a managed print services enquiry or anything commercial.
Technical support is at a different address
Lexmark runs its support on support.lexmark.com, with a South African section at support.lexmark.com/en_za.html. That is where the drivers and downloads, the warranty service pages, the interactive user guides and the contact-support route live. Start there for a device that will not print, a driver problem or a warranty claim.
One quirk worth knowing before you click. The Get technical support link on the South African contact page points at the Malaysian support site rather than the South African one, and the same page carries a Malaysian contact link in its navigation. Type the en_za support address yourself rather than following that link, or you will end up reading Malaysian warranty terms.
Have this ready
- The machine type and model number, which are on a label on the printer rather than in the marketing name
- The serial number, which determines your warranty status
- The proof of purchase, because the warranty runs from purchase rather than manufacture
- The exact error message or error code shown on the panel
Register the product on the Lexmark product registration page when you buy it. Registration is what makes a warranty claim quick later, and it takes two minutes at the point where you still have the box.
Supplies, and why the genuine question matters
Lexmark publishes separate pages for genuine supplies, genuine parts, an extended warranty and a reuse and recycling programme. The commercial reality behind that: some Lexmark cartridges are sold under a return programme licence at a lower price on condition they are returned rather than refilled, and a third-party refill of one of those is a different proposition from an ordinary compatible cartridge. Read what you are buying, particularly on a fleet.
A third-party cartridge does not automatically void a printer warranty in South Africa. A manufacturer must show that the part actually caused the fault before refusing a claim, and the Consumer Protection Act is explicit that a supplier may not void a warranty merely because non-original goods were used. If you are told otherwise, ask for it in writing.
Buying safely
Buy from an authorised reseller. Counterfeit toner is a large trade, it damages machines, and a printer failure caused by it is not a warranty matter. Cartridges priced far below the market are the signal.
