The Central University of Technology has its seat in Bloemfontein and a second campus in Welkom. The Bloemfontein campus is the main one, and it publishes a switchboard, an after-hours protection services line and two different street addresses.
CUT Bloemfontein contact details
- Switchboard: 051 507 3911
- Protection Services, after hours: 051 507 4417
- Campus address: 20 President Brand Street, Westdene, Bloemfontein 9300
- Main entrance of the university: 1 Park Road, Westdene, Bloemfontein 9300
The two addresses matter if you are driving in. Deliveries and correspondence use President Brand Street; visitors and students entering the campus use the Park Road gate.
Postal address
CUT asks that all correspondence, for either campus, be addressed to The Registrar, Central University of Technology, Free State, Private Bag X20539, Bloemfontein 9300, Republic of South Africa. Welkom does not have a separate postal address.
The Welkom campus
- Switchboard: 057 910 3500
- Protection Services, after hours: 057 910 3799
- Address: 1 Mothusi Road, Welkom 9460
Welkom is about 160km north-east of Bloemfontein in the Free State goldfields. A student registered there is served by that campus, not by the Bloemfontein switchboard.
Getting to the right department
CUT publishes a contact directory organised by category rather than one central number, covering executive management, the four faculties, academic administration, assessment and graduation, the library, research and development, student affairs, residences, the wellness centre, finance, human resources, and the Disability Unit. If you know which office you need, that directory is faster than the switchboard. The faculties are Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology; Health and Environmental Sciences; Humanities; and Management Sciences.
Escalating a complaint
- CUT runs a whistleblowing channel listed in the same contact directory for fraud and misconduct.
- An academic dispute goes through the department and faculty first; the university will send it back otherwise.
- Both campuses publish an after-hours Protection Services number. Use it for an emergency on campus rather than the switchboard, which is not staffed overnight.
