Ford East London is part of the Eastern Cape Motor Group, and the number below comes from the group’s own dealership list rather than from a locator.
Ford East London
- Telephone: 043 704 4000
- Fax: 043 743 7510
- Address: 93 Fitzpatrick Road, Arcadia, East London
The other dealerships in the same group
- Ford King Williams Town — corner Eales and Cambridge Roads. 043 643 3211
- Ford William Moffett, Gqeberha — William Moffett Expressway. 041 399 1222
- Ford North End, Gqeberha — 41 Grahamstown Road, North End. 041 484 4326
- Ford Uitenhage — corner Mitchell and Market Streets. 041 922 9100
That is the whole group: East London, King Williams Town, two in Gqeberha and one in Uitenhage. There is no Ford dealership in Mthatha, which is worth knowing if you are north of the Kei and were planning the drive.
Use the dealer number, not a number from a locator
Manufacturer dealer locators frequently show a call-tracking number that routes through an advertising system rather than the dealership’s own switchboard. The numbers above are the ones the dealer group publishes on its own site, which is the better source. If a number you found elsewhere behaves oddly — a long menu, an agent who cannot see your service history — that is why.
Sales, service and parts are different departments
One switchboard, three destinations. Say which you want at the start: a test drive and pricing is sales; a booking, a warranty query or a recall is service; a part number is parts. For anything about a car you already own, have the VIN ready — the service history is filed against it, not against your name.
Warranty, service plan and where the file lives
- Warranty work is done at a franchised dealer, and your history sits with the dealer that has been servicing the car. Going back to the same one saves a lot of explaining.
- A safety recall is free regardless of age, mileage or where you bought the car. Ask them to check the VIN against open recalls when you book.
- A service plan and a warranty are different products with different lengths. Ask which you still have and until when.
The group is also a financial services provider
Eastern Cape Motor Group publishes itself as FSP 44014. That matters because vehicle finance, insurance and value-added products sold in the showroom are financial products. You are entitled to know what you are being sold, what it costs and what the commission is, and you may decline any of it and arrange your own cover.
If a complaint stalls
- Speak to the dealer principal by name before escalating, and put it in writing.
- A defect in a new vehicle is covered by the Consumer Protection Act, separately from the warranty.
- Unresolved motor complaints go to the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa, free to consumers, covering both dealer and manufacturer.
