Alpha Metering Contact Details

Alpha Metering is a prepaid metering and utility management provider – electricity, water, gas and in some cases sanitation – working for body corporates, homeowners’ associations, managing agents and the residents billed through them. Note that the mailbox is on alphameter.co.za while the website is alphametering.com. The two domains are different by one syllable and that is what the company publishes – so a reply arriving from alphameter.co.za is not a spoof, and an address you type as alphametering.com will bounce.

The after-hours line is the useful one

Weekday cover runs to 20:00 and there are weekend and public-holiday windows, morning and late afternoon. That is unusual for a metering provider and it is the number to keep, because a token that will not load on a Sunday afternoon is exactly the case the office line cannot help with. Outside those windows nobody answers, so note the two weekend slots rather than assuming all-day cover.

Try the token resend before you phone

Alpha Metering publishes a self-service route for the most common problem, which is a purchased token that never arrived. Dialling a USSD string built from your meter number requests the token again and it comes back by SMS. Tokens can be bought at Absa, Capitec, FNB, Nedbank and Standard Bank among other vendors, so a failed purchase at one vendor does not mean the meter is at fault. Have the meter number ready either way – it is the only thing that identifies your unit.

Who to argue with about the bill

Alpha Metering is a reseller and utility manager, not the municipality. It bills what the meter records under the arrangement your scheme signed.
A dispute about the tariff or the split of common-property charges is usually a body corporate or managing agent matter, not a metering one. Ask which of the two set the rate before escalating.
A meter you believe is faulty is Alpha Metering’s to test. Ask for the test result in writing, with the meter number and the date, whatever the outcome.
