The University of Johannesburg has no single NSFAS office. Each of its four campuses runs its own NSFAS desk, with its own phone numbers and its own mailbox, inside UJ Student Finance. Write to the desk for the campus you are registered at, not simply the one nearest to you. Read from UJ’s Student Finance contact page on 13 September 2026.

UJ or NSFAS: which to contact
- UJ’s campus desk: registration with NSFAS funding, your UJ fee account, and whether NSFAS money has reached the university
- NSFAS itself: your application outcome, an appeal, and allowance payments to you. NSFAS is on 08000 67327, WhatsApp +27 63 093 5671, USSD *120*67327#, or info@nsfas.org.za
NSFAS allows rejected applicants who are eligible to appeal within 30 days of receiving their result, and the appeal is made to NSFAS rather than to UJ. Do not let an appeal deadline pass while waiting for a reply from a campus desk.
What to include in an email
- Your UJ student number and ID number in the subject line
- Your campus and qualification
- Your NSFAS reference, and a screenshot of the status on your myNSFAS account
Support and escalation routes
Report fraud involving NSFAS funds, including anyone asking for money to get you funded, to NSFAS at speakup@nsfas.org.za. UJ’s general enquiries line is 011 559 4555, and UJ lists its own whistleblowing hotline under Quick Links on its site.
