Absa Debt Review Contact Details

Verified 16 September 2026Official source onlyIndependent directoryReport a wrong number

Absa publishes no contact for a debt review department. If you are already under debt review, or a debt counsellor is negotiating with Absa for you, Absa’s manage my debt pages give 0861 22 22 72 for help, and the same number for the Absa Solutions Account, a basic account built for people under debt counselling. We read these pages on absa.co.za, with the regulator’s details on ncr.org.za, on 16 September 2026.

ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory, not Absa or a debt counsellor. We cannot put you under debt review, remove a flag or speak to Absa for you.

Absa’s manage my debt page also prints 0860 62 76 27 for “the respective product areas”. We have not listed it, because it is one digit away from the regulator’s 0860 627 627 and we did not find it anywhere else on the Absa pages we read. Absa’s Talk to us directory uses 0860 000 786 for Manage my debt as well as for Islamic Banking.

Absa does not publish hours for 0861 22 22 72 on its manage my debt page; the hours in the table come from its home loan repayments page. The National Credit Regulator’s call centre is open Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 17:00 and Friday 08:00 to 16:30.

Product or service support

Debt review is handled by an NCR-registered debt counsellor, not by Absa. Absa’s home loan guide describes the bank’s part: once your counsellor finds you cannot pay your debts, the counsellor contacts Absa with a payment plan to renegotiate the loan terms, and Absa either accepts or declines it. If Absa agrees, the counsellor files the plan in court and a consent order is granted, after which you pay under the plan.

The Absa Solutions Account is aimed at clients under debt review. Absa describes it as a flat monthly fee account with no cap on the number of transactions, a debit card, debit orders, stop orders, transfers and account payments, no penalty charges, and free Cellphone Banking and NotifyMe.

Absa’s own guidance is to find debt counsellors on the NCR website under Register of Registrants. Check a counsellor there before you sign anything or pay a fee.

Eligibility, account or policy requirements

Absa’s pages set out several rules worth knowing before you apply. You need disposable income to make a reduced offer. If you are married in community of property, both spouses must apply. An agreement on which a Section 130 summons has already been issued is left out of the process. While under review you cannot take on new credit, so a consolidation loan is off the table, and credit facilities on a credit card or cheque account are restricted. Once you are confirmed over-indebted you cannot simply withdraw: Absa says that takes a court order declaring you rehabilitated, or settling all short-term agreements under the order so a clearance certificate can be issued.

To qualify for the Absa Solutions Account you need a valid ID, proof of residence, to be over 18 and to be under debt counselling. Absa Bank is registered as credit provider NCRCP7.

Escalation route

  1. Take questions about your plan, payments or a clearance certificate to your debt counsellor first, since the counsellor deals with Absa on the plan.
  2. For how Absa is treating an account under review, call 0861 22 22 72, then the Complaint Resolution Suite on 0800 41 41 41 or actionline@absa.co.za.
  3. Report a counsellor’s conduct or fees to the National Credit Regulator at complaints@ncr.org.za.
  4. A credit dispute Absa does not resolve can go to the National Financial Ombud Scheme on 0860 800 900 or info@nfosa.co.za.
