If MBD Legal Collections or MBD Digital Collections is collecting a debt from you, the MBD Digital Collections portal at mbddc.co.za/ddc/ is where you log a query, ask for a settlement discount, make an arrangement or request a paid-up letter. The portal’s contact number is 011 560 6111, and its payment options page gives 011 560 6000 for confirming how you can pay. We read the portal, its FAQ and payment options pages, and the Nutun PAIA manual it links to, on 16 September 2026.

ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory. We are not MBD, Nutun or a debt counsellor, and we cannot see, settle or dispute an account for you.

Two companies sit behind the name. The Nutun PAIA manual lists MBD Legal Collections (Pty) Ltd as a registered credit provider and debt collector, and Nutun Business Services SA (Pty) Ltd as a registered debt collector. The portal footer says MBD is a trading division of Nutun Business Services South Africa (Pty) Ltd, owned by Nutun Limited, and prints DCA No. 0030960/08. On the portal home page, the “Contact” link dials 010 510 0250 although the text beside it reads 011 560 6111. We publish only the number shown as text.

What you need before contacting

  • The MBD reference number from the letter or SMS. Payments are matched to it.
  • Your ID number and the full name of the person the account is in.
  • The cellphone number MBD holds for you, because portal access and number changes run on one-time PINs.
  • Proof of any payment you have already made, if you are querying a balance.
  • The date you last paid or acknowledged the debt. MBD’s FAQ explains that a credit agreement debt can prescribe after three years without payment or acknowledgement.

MBD’s FAQ also covers terms that often appear in collection letters. A bought account means a debt buyer has purchased the debt and is now the creditor. A Section 129 notice under the National Credit Act tells you the account is at least 20 business days in arrears and that you may refer the agreement to a debt counsellor, an ombud or the consumer court. A trace alert flags your credit report when a creditor cannot reach you. Collection fees may be added under the Debt Collectors Act, and a judgment stays valid for 30 years.

Step-by-step contact process

  1. Check which company the letter or SMS names, then look up its registration on the Council for Debt Collectors’ active register at cfdc.org.za. The number MBD prints on its portal is DCA No. 0030960/08.
  2. Open mbddc.co.za/ddc/, log in with your details and the one-time PIN, and view the account and its documents.
  3. If the debt is wrong, choose Log a Query and pick the reason that fits: not your debt, already paid, statement or contract needed, unemployed, unable to afford it, or the debtor has died.
  4. If you owe the amount, use Apply for Discount to state what you can afford, or set up an arrangement.
  5. Before paying by EFT, ATM deposit, EasyPay, Kazang or debit order, call 011 560 6000 to confirm which options your client account allows, and always quote the reference number.
  6. After the final payment, request the paid-up letter from the portal and keep it with your proof of payment.

Escalation route

If a portal query or call does not resolve the matter, the Council for Debt Collectors hears complaints about how a registered collector behaves, including fees and the way you are contacted. Reach it on 012 804 9808, at info@cfdc.org.za or through its online complaint form at councilsmart.org.za. For a dispute about the underlying credit agreement, MBD’s own FAQ points to a debt counsellor, an ombud with jurisdiction or the consumer court. A privacy complaint goes first to popiofficer@nutun.com, and then to the Information Regulator.

Pay only through the channels listed on the MBD portal, using your own reference number. If someone claiming to be from MBD cannot give you that reference, call 011 560 6111 before you pay anything.
