What this organisation provides
JIS maintains the share registers of listed and unlisted companies, including JSE Top 40 companies, and has more than 2.5 million shareholder records under management. Its registry services cover register maintenance, shareholder meetings with proxy, in-person or virtual voting, and investor communications.
JSE Investor Services CSDP (Pty) Ltd is a Strate approved Central Securities Depository Participant (CSDP) for equities, so it can hold shares in custody for investors.
JIS also runs asset reunification campaigns. It reports returning approximately R700 million in unclaimed funds to about 110,000 shareholders over the last 5 years. If you think you have unclaimed dividends on shares in a company JIS administers, the general line or the relevant shareholder desk is the place to start.
The company started as Ultra Registrars, which became Link Market Services South Africa. JSE Limited bought a 74.85% stake and renamed it JSE Investor Services, later becoming the 100% owner.
