TUT is a public university of technology established in 2004, with campuses in Pretoria, Soshanguve, Ga-Rankuwa, eMalahleni, Mbombela and Polokwane, and all applications are made online.

Official TUT application route
TUT takes applications online only, through the Apply Now link on tut.ac.za, which opens the portal at applications-prod.tut.ac.za. First-year and undergraduate applications for the 2027 academic year opened on 1 April 2026, and programmes may close early once they are full.
The 2027 closing dates published by TUT are:
- 15 June 2026: selected Humanities and health science programmes, for example BNursing, BPharm and BRad Diagnostic (already closed).
- 31 July 2026: Arts and Design, most Humanities programmes and the listed Science and Engineering programmes (already closed).
- 30 September 2026: all other programmes.

What you need before contacting TUT
- Proof that you paid the application fee. For 2027 the fee is R240, compulsory for all first-time applicants, paid once and strictly non-refundable. Use your ID number as the payment reference, and pay into the bank account printed in TUT’s General Information brochure.
- A certified copy of your ID.
- A certified copy of your NSC, or your final Grade 11 results if you are in Grade 12 now.
- Your own email address. TUT asks you not to use someone else’s.
- A password of 6 to 12 characters with numbers, letters, one special character and one uppercase letter.
If you hold an international or alternative qualification such as IGCSE, NSSC, A-Level or IB, you need a SAQA or CHE certificate of equivalence. TUT cannot obtain it for you.
Step-by-step contact process
- Get all your documents ready and create your own email address before you go online.
- Pay the R240 application fee with your ID number as the reference.
- Apply online through Apply Now at applications-prod.tut.ac.za before your programme’s closing date.
- To check your admission status, go to tut.ac.za, click Study@TUT, select Check Your Status, enter your ID number and click Submit. Your reference number and status appear, and you can print the letter that is available.

Escalation route
If the admission lines cannot help, use TUT’s Contact Centre on 086 110 2421 or general@tut.ac.za, or SMS the word TUT with your name, study programme and email address to 30655. Written queries can go to The Registrar, Private Bag X680, Pretoria, 0001 (Tel 012 382 5180).
