Official TUT graduation route
For graduation and certificate questions, contact the Certification Management Office on 012 382 4818, 012 382 3030 or 012 382 4742, or email graduationoffice@tut.ac.za. For general TUT questions, the call centre is on +27 (0)86 110 2421 and the general email is general@tut.ac.za.
Applications to graduate are not made through the graduation office line. Each faculty has its own graduation officer, listed on the Online Application Form page of the TUT graduations site, and you apply by emailing that officer before the closing date.
What you need before contacting TUT
- Your student number and ITS PIN, to log in to the ITS student system.
- A certified copy of your prerequisite certificate as a PDF, no bigger than 520 000 bytes.
- Your original ID if you are collecting a certificate in person.
- Proof that you are NSFAS coded or that all your fees are settled. Only these graduates may collect certificates.
Step-by-step contact process
- Log in to the ITS system with your student number and PIN. Under “Certificate Seen”, upload a certified copy of your prerequisite certificate (PDF, max 520 000 bytes).
- In ITS, check and update your email, cellphone and postal address under Graduation, Communication detail and Address validation.
- Apply for graduation by emailing your faculty’s graduation officer, as listed on the Online Application Form page, before the closing date.
- To collect a certificate, request it in advance through graduationoffice@tut.ac.za or 012 382 4818. Certificates are ready within 14 calendar days of a request; wait for the ready-for-collection email before you go.
If your original certificate is lost or destroyed, TUT does not re-issue it. You can apply for a duplicate qualification statement instead, for a fee of R235 per qualification. Apply on the form at os.tut.ac.za/StudentForms/Form?FormCode=DQS with an SAPS affidavit, a copy of your ID and proof of payment.
Employers or others who want to verify a TUT qualification must use MIE, PURQ or SAQA. The graduation office does not handle third-party verification.
Escalation route
TUT does not publish a separate escalation line for graduations. If the graduation office lines do not answer, email graduationoffice@tut.ac.za so you have a written record, or contact the TUT call centre on +27 (0)86 110 2421.
