Pollsmoor visiting hours, bookings and services
DCS publishes booking days per centre rather than one set of Pollsmoor visiting hours. The booking days listed for each centre are:
- Medium A: bookings made on Fridays for Mondays and on Tuesdays for Thursdays; for adults, on Saturdays for Tuesdays and on Mondays for Wednesdays.
- Medium B: book on Wednesdays to visit on Saturdays, and on Thursdays to visit on Sundays.
- Medium C: bookings are made from Wednesday for the weekend.
- Female centre: remand detainees, bookings Saturdays to Tuesdays with visits Mondays to Thursdays; sentenced offenders, bookings Wednesdays to Fridays.
Visit length and frequency depend on the inmate’s group and security class. As an example, DCS says a Group A inmate in minimum or medium security may have a 60 minute contact visit with at most 2 visitors, 5 visits a month, while a Group C inmate gets a 30 minute non-contact visit with 1 visitor.
For parcels, DCS allows inmates to keep toiletries, stamps, stationery, edibles that need no preparation, one photo album (20 photos) and 6 loose photos.
