OMODA South Africa runs one number with a menu, and the menu options are the whole trick: the same digits reach roadside assistance or customer care depending on which one you press.
OMODA South Africa contact details
- Roadside assistance: 010 448 5388, Option 1
- Customer care: 010 448 5388, Option 3
- AA 24 hour service: 086 150 5555
- Email: [email protected]
Note that the roadside line is answered under the AA’s 24 hour service. OMODA publishes both numbers alongside each other; the 086 one is the AA directly, so it is the one to use at two in the morning when the menu is not what you want to be navigating.
Save the roadside numbers before you need them
The point of a roadside number is that you will be looking for it while stationary on a verge, possibly at night, possibly with no signal to load a website. Put 010 448 5388 and 086 150 5555 in your phone now, and keep the vehicle’s VIN or registration where you can read it — the operator will ask for it to confirm the vehicle is still under the roadside plan.
Buying, servicing and warranty go through the dealer
OMODA sells through franchised dealers, and the dealer holds your sale, your service history and your warranty work. Head office does not book services and does not hold your service record. Use the Locate a Dealer tool on omoda.co.za to find the dealer covering your area, and deal with the one where the car was sold or last serviced when it is a warranty question — that is where the file is.
Which OMODA you have
- The current South African range is built around the C5, C5 SHS, C5 X, C7 and C9, with the C9 offered in petrol and SHS forms.
- SHS is the hybrid designation. A hybrid has service and warranty terms that differ from the petrol car, including on the battery, so quote the exact model when you phone.
- OMODA states the C5 has passed 16 900 local sales since April 2023, so parts and dealer familiarity are reasonable on that model.
What the warranty and service plan actually cover
Ask for the terms in writing rather than relying on what was said at the sale. Service plan and warranty are different products with different lengths, a service plan lapses on time or distance whichever comes first, and roadside assistance is usually tied to the warranty period rather than to the car. Servicing outside the franchised network can affect a claim, so check before you use an independent workshop.
If a complaint stalls at the dealer
- Escalate to [email protected] with the dealer name, the VIN and the dates. A complaint without a VIN cannot be traced.
- A dispute about a defect in a new vehicle falls under the Consumer Protection Act, which gives you rights against the supplier independently of the warranty.
- Unresolved motor complaints can be taken to the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa, which is free to consumers and covers both the dealer and the manufacturer.
