Absa splits estate work across three separate desks, and reporting a death starts at the Estate Intake Centre rather than at the trust or wills desk. Going straight to Absa Trusts is the usual reason a file sits still.

What this organisation provides
The Intake Centre is where an estate is reported and opened. Absa Trusts administers estates once they are running and acts where Absa is appointed executor. Wills Direct deals with the will itself, including whether Absa holds one for the deceased. The three are not interchangeable and each holds different information.
Address and operating information
Absa Bank Limited is at Absa Towers West, 15 Troye Street, Johannesburg 2000, registration number 1986/004794/06. It is an authorised financial services provider and a registered credit provider under NCRCP7.
Support and escalation routes
An estate is administered under the Master of the High Court, which appoints the executor and sets the documents required, so Absa acts within that process rather than deciding it. Where the deceased held a credit agreement, that account continues to exist until the estate settles it. A complaint about how Absa handles the estate goes to the Complaint Resolution Suite on 0800 41 41 41 or [email protected], open weekdays 08:00 to 16:30, and then to the National Financial Ombud on 0860 800 900.
