Absa runs its fleet services through regional offices rather than one national call centre, so the number you need depends on where your fleet is based. There is a separate national line for vehicle and asset finance, which is a different thing from fleet management.

Product or service support
Absa fleet services cover more than finance. The published services include sourcing and disposing of vehicles, licensing and administration, setting up reporting systems, and facilitating discussions with oil companies. Two are worth knowing about specifically: Absa administers open road tolling for fleets, which includes issuing tags, managing the transaction flow through to settlement and handling toll disputes, and it installs tracking and recovery units and pays the monthly subscription fees on your behalf. There is also a fleet card usable at filling stations and rewards from motor fuel companies.
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
Because tolling and tracking subscriptions are administered on your behalf, a query about a disputed toll or a tracking fee goes to the fleet office rather than to the toll operator or the tracking company in the first instance. Have the vehicle registration and the fleet or account number ready. Absa publishes a specific caution on this page worth noting: it says it collaborates with other companies to provide these products, some of which may use Absa branding, and that its privacy policy does not apply to those companies websites. So confirm which entity you are actually dealing with before sharing information or paying anything.
Escalation route
Raise a fleet billing or service dispute with the regional office and get a reference. Vehicle and asset finance is a credit agreement, so a complaint about the agreement, its cost or its disclosure goes to the National Credit Regulator on 0860 627 627. A complaint about how the bank handled the account or a service failure goes to the National Financial Ombud on 0860 800 900 once the bank process is exhausted. A dispute about a vehicle sale, repair or service quality involves the motor trade and can go to the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa on 0861 164 672.
