Absa VF is Absa Vehicle and Asset Finance, and it is not one number. Absa splits asset finance into five separate lines depending on what is being financed and whether the agreement is personal or in a business name. Dialling the wrong one means being transferred, because these are different books with different systems. All read from Absa’s own contact page on 7 September 2026.
The five asset finance numbers
- Absa Vehicle and Asset Finance: 0860 669 669
- Commercial Asset Finance: 0861 001 155
- Fleet Management Solutions: 0861 600 800
- Fleet Card: 0861 227 232
- Term loan, overdraft and revolving loan, and value-added products: 0860 040 302
0860 669 669 is the one most people want – it covers a car financed in your own name. Commercial Asset Finance is for equipment and vehicles financed by a business, and the two fleet numbers are for managed fleets and fuel cards respectively, which are separate products again.
Which number matches your agreement
The test is whose name is on the contract, not who drives the vehicle. A bakkie financed by a close corporation is a commercial asset finance matter even if one person uses it; a car financed personally and used for work is not. If you are unsure, the agreement number on your statement identifies the book, and quoting it at the start saves the transfer.
What vehicle finance cannot do for you
- It cannot settle an insurance claim. Credit protection and value-added insurance sold with the finance are separate products with their own claims process.
- It cannot release a vehicle from a dealership. That is between you and the dealer until the payout is made.
- It cannot reverse a debit order that has already gone off. That is a banking transaction, handled on the general enquiries line.
Settlement, early payment and selling the car
A settlement figure is time-limited – it is quoted to a date, and paying it late leaves a balance. Ask for it in writing with the expiry date on it. If you are selling privately, the buyer’s bank pays Absa directly rather than paying you, and Absa releases the papers afterwards; agreeing anything else leaves you exposed. And a vehicle under finance cannot be sold or exported without Absa’s consent, because the bank holds the interest until the last instalment clears.
For an account complaint that the finance line has not resolved, Absa’s Complaint Resolution Suite is 0800 41 41 41 on weekdays between 08:00 and 16:30, or [email protected]. Absa Bank Limited is registration number 1986/004794/06 and a registered credit provider, NCRCP7.
