Chainpay Loans is not a lender. It is a broker, or directory service, that takes your application and submits it to a panel of lenders. That distinction changes who holds your money, who holds your data, and who you complain to.

It describes itself as part of the Credfin Group, offering personal loans up to R150,000 through its panel. ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory and is not Chainpay.

Why “broker, not lender” matters to you

The published terms, and what they imply

Its terms state a maximum APR of 38% a year, with loan periods from 12 to 60 months. A five year term on an unsecured personal loan is a long commitment, and the total repaid over that period is far larger than the amount borrowed.

Ask for the total cost of credit in rand, not just the monthly instalment. A comfortable monthly figure stretched over 60 months is how an affordable looking loan becomes an expensive one.

Frequently asked questions

Does Chainpay lend the money itself?

No. It submits your application to a panel of lenders. Your agreement is with whichever lender approves it.

Who do I complain to about my loan?

The lender that holds the agreement, and then the NCR on [email protected] if it is unresolved.

Will applying affect my credit record?

It can. An application sent to several lenders may generate several credit enquiries. Ask how many before you submit.

Terms were read on the company’s own website and NCR details on official sources, on 25 August 2026.
