Mpowa Loan Contact Details

Start with the domain, because this is where people go wrong. MPOWA trades at mpowafin.co.za. The obvious-looking mpowafinance.co.za returns a server error and mpowa.co.za is a holding page, and there are other lookalike domains circulating. Nothing about your loan should be done on any of them.

MPOWA contact details

  • Telephone: 0861 228 228
  • SMS: 083 736 0165
  • Fax: 0866 893 708
  • Postal address: Postnet Suite 462, Private Bag X9, Benmore, 2010
  • Enquiry form and loan status check on mpowafin.co.za

The contact page shows an Email us label but does not print an address behind it, so the form is the written route. There is also a login on the site to check the status of an application, which answers the most common question without a call.

The office hours that actually matter

MPOWA publishes two sets of times, and the second one is the one that decides whether you see money today.

  • Monday to Friday: 07:00 to 16:00, with payments made at 17:00
  • Last Saturday of each month: 08:30 to 11:30, with payments made at 12:00

So the office closing time is not the payment cut-off. An application completed and approved before 16:00 on a weekday goes into the 17:00 payment run; one completed at 16:30 does not, however quickly it was approved. If you need money the same day, work backwards from the payment run rather than from the closing time.

Who you are actually borrowing from

  • MPOWA Finance (Pty) Ltd, company number 2011/128825/07
  • Registered credit provider NCRCP6666
  • Insurance products offered are underwritten through Guardrisk Life Ltd, FSP 76, and administered by Turbo Financial Services (Pty) Ltd, FSP 51046

Check NCRCP6666 on the National Credit Regulator register yourself before you apply. It takes a minute and it is the single check that separates a registered lender from an impersonator using the same name.

DebiCheck, and why the mandate matters

MPOWA carries a dedicated DebiCheck page on its own site, which tells you how repayment works. A DebiCheck mandate is one you approve on your phone or at your bank, and once approved it is much harder to reverse than an ordinary debit order. That protects you against unauthorised collections, but it also means you should read the amount and the date on the mandate before approving rather than tapping through it.

Before you take a short-term loan

This is expensive credit by design, priced for a single pay cycle. The National Credit Act caps what a short-term lender may charge, and the total you repay should be set out in the pre-agreement quotation before you sign. Ask for that quotation and read the total, not the monthly figure. If you are rolling one short-term loan into the next month after month, the problem is not the lender: speak to a registered debt counsellor.

If something goes wrong

Raise it with MPOWA in writing first through the enquiry form and keep the reference. An unresolved complaint about a credit agreement goes to the National Credit Regulator, and a complaint about the insurance attached to the loan goes to the National Financial Ombud Scheme. Both are free.
