Nedbank Agribusiness Contact Details

Nedbank AgriBusiness is not a separate bank or a separate number. Agriculture sits inside Commercial Banking, which serves businesses turning over between R10 million and R750 million, and it is reached on that division line. Nedbank does not publish a dedicated agri switchboard.

Official contact channels

  • Commercial Banking, which covers agriculture: 0860 555 333
  • From outside South Africa: +27 10 217 4012
  • Email: business@nedbank.co.za
  • Nedbank works agriculture through a local agribusiness manager rather than a call centre queue. Ask on the Commercial Banking line to be allocated to the manager for your district, and deal with that person thereafter
  • The agriculture pages sit on business.nedbank.co.za, which is a different site from the personal banking one

What Nedbank finances in agriculture

  • Seasonality-linked finance structured around when a crop actually pays, rather than a flat monthly instalment
  • Production loans for inputs such as fertiliser, seed and diesel, and seasonal overdraft or short-term facilities for the gap between planting and selling
  • Debtor and trade finance to hold cash flow steady between deliveries and payment
  • Longer repayment terms on capital items, shade netting finance for crop protection, and funding tied to sustainable and regenerative farming practice
  • The bank covers horticulture, field crops, livestock and secondary agri-processing businesses

Agri insurance is a separate conversation

  • Nedbank lists crop and hail cover, livestock mortality cover, equipment cover, debtor insurance against non-payment, and key person and third-party cover
  • Insurance is sold and administered separately from the lending, so a claim does not go to your agribusiness manager
  • Get the policy schedule and the exclusions in writing. Hail and drought are not the same peril and are not always both covered
  • Debtor insurance matters more in agriculture than in most sectors, because a single buyer failing can take a whole season with it

Before you sign seasonal finance

  • Match the repayment date to your actual harvest and payment date, not to the calendar. That is the whole point of seasonality-linked structuring, and it has to be written into the agreement
  • Ask what happens in a failed season: whether the facility rolls, and on what terms
  • Check whether the bank requires cession of your crop insurance or your debtors, because that constrains who you can sell to
  • Get the total cost of credit in writing, not just the rate
